A282 Dartford Tunnel

1963 - First Tunnel Opens
Just the one two-way tunnel running between junctions with the A13 and the A2.
1970 - A282 / A2 Under Construction
The Darenth Interchange is now under construction, extending the A282 southwards. I think the A282 was to be dual two-lane carriageways in those days.
1972 - A282 / A2 Now Open
The Darenth Interchange is now open. The old A2 is now the A225 and A296.
1978 - A282 Meets M25
The second tunnel is now under construction as the crossing forms part of the proposed M25 London Orbital Motorway. Indeed, some of it is already open, south of the A2. No sign of anything north of the A13 yet.
