A74 and M74 Strip Maps

The A74 in 1970
There are two maps shown on this page. The first details the original section of the M74 through Lanarkshire. Since 1969, work has begun on the M73.
The second shows the Cumberland Gap - the northernmost section of the M6 is still under construction (as shown in 1969) but the roundabout at junction 44 is now complete. The A74 is still single carriageway until we get past Gretna.
