A74 and M74 Strip Maps

The A74 in 1971

There are two maps shown on this page. The first details the original section of the M74 through Lanarkshire. Since 1970, the link with the A74 at the north end has been modified, but work continues on building the M73.

The second shows the Cumberland Gap. The northernmost section of the M6 is finally open. The A74 is still single carriageway until we get past Gretna.
