The A74 / M74 in 1999

The northern section remains as it was in 1995





In 1997, just two gaps remained. Now, it is only one. The section around Beattock Summit is being plugged, leaving the Cumberland Gap as the only missing link in the motorway from London to Glasgow. Of course, there are now plans to extend the M74 further into Glasgow to meet the M8, but that's another story.
