M4 Maidenhead Bypass in 1962

This road opened as the A4(M). The junction with the A308 (the old junction 8) closed when the motorway was extended westwards to Reading. The aerial photo on Multimap shows the original line of the mtorway ver clearly, and Pathetic Motorways also gives information on the A4(M) page. Chris Hillcoat also has some pictures of where the road used to run here.
