M6 Preston and Lancaster Bypasses

The Lancaster Bypass in 1961
On the basis that Lancaster is north of Preston, I've put the newer of these two motorways first. The northern end of the road is now part of the A601(M). Note also that the A683 junction was originally intended for emergency vehicles only.
The Preston Bypass in 1958
This is it - the very first stretch of motorway opened in Great Britain, in 1958. This picture shows the southern end of the road in its original state.
